Engage with communities and support citizens to become more involved with the policing of their communities. To prevent crime, to keep people safe from harm and to increase the trust and confidence that communities have in West Midlands Police. To complement and support Police Officers by providing a highly visible and acceptable police presence in communities, providing reassurance to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Connect and Build-

  • Engage with communities, empowering them to become more involved
    with the policing of their area and to problem solve independently,
    contributing to building safer neighbourhoods.
  • Identify and understand key issues and crimes most harmful to
    communities and have honest and open conversations with
    local people about the issues affecting them.
  • Understand your community demographics and composition, including
    key assets and diverse groups to enable engagement with harder to
    reach groups.
  • Build and maintain community relationships to create trust between the
    public and the police.
  • Use all available methods to facilitate two way communication with
    communities and partners.
  • Maximise opportunities to gather intelligence about harm and
    criminality through enhanced relationships with the community,
    partners and colleagues.
  • Work with partners to deliver objectives aligned to strategic and local priorities.



Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of working with communities and partners
  • High level of communication skills
    Proven experience of dealing directly with the public
  • Experience of working under your own initiative

Hours of Work

36.5 hours a week. Rosters as per local agreement
